Richard B. Cheney is an American businessman, public servant, and politician. Cheney is a well-known figure on the Washington scene of politics, has served under several U.S. presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush. He will serve as the fourth vice president, and is the elected president. Bush picked Cheney on July 20, 2000 to be his vice-presidential running mate being impressed by Cheney's intelligence and judgement. Dick Cheney was a chief of staff to presidents. He also worked for the United States Congress as Secretary of Defense and served the country in a variety of roles. Cheney is a true gentleman, who has the respect of all Republicans as well as Democrats. Cheney stated that he sees the role of an honest yet discreet advisor to the Bush administration. Cheney expressed excitement about accepting the Republican vice-presidential nod. Cheney said he is looking forward working alongside a president who will collaborate with those who have diverse political beliefs and the same goals. His father, who worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture was the director of the conservation district of Casper.
