Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. By the time she was nine years old, her family resided in Louisiana and she was the winner of an annual regional talent competition with a cover of Patsy Montana's "I Would Like to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker's family moved from Louisiana to Georgia in the summer of 1995. She had started to write songs, and was making frequent trips to Nashville. Reid by Mercury Records President David Massey, who was at the time in charge for Island/Def Jam. Reid then agreed to sign Decker to a contract with a record label. Jessie James released her debut album in August of 2009. The album was a self-titled project. Jessie James enjoyed a modest number of hits and Wanted could make it to the Top 40 on the Singles Charts. Decker is always considered a country artist, however the album made and promoted it for a pop audience. Decker, who had been unhappy with two more singles from the album, fought the executives of the label to get more influence. Decker then released her second single Boys in the Summer which was more country. The second album of Decker's was released with the name Daughter of a Gypsy, or Sweet American Dreams. Mercury had it shelved as three of her country tracks failed. The album was later canceled.
