April Lockhart

April Lockhart (born July 4 April, 1995) started her journey in music at the age of 7 when she took guitar and piano classes. April Lockhart wrote her first track"Different" when she was twelve years old. When she was 14 April spent a lot of her time to singing and writing songs. Soon, April began going to NY and LA together with her father in order for them both to write songs. April began including other topics in Take My Hand for her friends who were dealing with disabilities, peer pressure or even suicide. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with an ever-growing fan base. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, and is also a lifestyle expert. Born without a left hand, the woman has a significant part to play in herself. It's however not the entire tale. Because of this, her Instagram account does not shy away from her disabilities, yet the focus isn't on the issue neither. What message is it sending? There is more to us than just our physical self. The identities we have are complex and we contain many different aspects. Lockhart speaks through video from Nashville. "I don't want it to define my personal life. I'm not looking to be only known as a disability expert. This doesn't influence my day-to-day life. I carry on the same way as I always do and have developed my own ways to adapt. It's also part of me so I think it's essential to discuss. Lockhart has served as an excellent source of inspiration for her female friends with regards to self-acceptance. Yet, she confesses having moments that made her feel uncomfortable about her appearance and wearing clothing that showed her arms. Now she wears whatever outfit she likes and uploads photos on Facebook with pride. What makes self-love so appealing to her is that it's not a destination. It's a journey, I'm not sure you'll ever arrive. The people around you with, who know your personal story and who can look inside your soul are the best people who can remind you of the things you're worrying about.
