As I was a mom with one child at my side and other children with me in the cradle worked 12 hours a day sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! Everything was starting to fall into place, but it was not quite done. It would take the time, energy, and my favorite shopping to furnish this house. My three sons and I searched for hidden gems while going to estate sales in order to help keep my spending under control. The schedule we had for the week that consisted of spending Friday through Saturday at estate sales and garage sales purchasing new and old things. I spent the rest of the week sanding and painting the driveway. The furniture I found looked like... This is when my passion to restore furniture began. I continued to work on furniture, even after having furnished our house. Markets in town had room to let me sell my pieces. In the end, I accumulated more items that I could decide about and outgrew the area. There were open houses at my house that saw more than 1 000 visitors could visit in a single weekend and could purchase whatever they saw on the first floor. This is where my business Growing Days was born. Growing Days wasn't just an incredibly successful business, but it was also a loving family. In some ways, I was able to find the perfect balance between being a mum and launching my business. Growing Days just seemed to be the right fit. My beautiful Nora came into the world in 2013, our fourth baby. This was a fantastic direction for my business, however I was also in need of an escape. I took some time away from furniture that was vintage to enjoy more quality time with my children. In the beginning, this was what I wanted. After a few minutes the phone started ringing. I started receiving requests from people requesting for assistance with home improvements and interior design. The majority of them came into my residence during my furniture open houses. While I was working I added new clients to my list in a series of. However, it didn't take that long before I was managing many clients and operated an extremely successful business of home renovation. I'm sure you would have laughed at me had I had told you that this would become the basis of the DIY Network tv series. As I reflect back, it makes me giggle.
